Rambling: Which way is the...?

Today, when someone was speaking to me (this may, or may not have happened at work), I imagined myself pouring the puke green split pea soup I had for lunch (only hours before) over their head. Slowly.

The good news? I'm leaving for Japan in the morning!

I am armed with Tylenol PM (although, you would be surprised how many people have strong opinions about their preferred brand of sleeping agent), fleece-y sleep masks from she's crafty, and finally....the last 100 pages of Kavalier & Clay.

David will sleep the whole plane ride. I will watch twelve in-flight movies.

We leave Newark at 11:10 Saturday morning and will arrive in Tokyo on Sunday at 3:15 in the afternoon.

I am going to try and post pictures while we are there. Try.

In terms of my recipe pick this week, I have been wanting to make the New York Times version ever since this article published on July 9. When Siobhan came to visit in November she brought them, and they were absolutely fabulous. Mine didn't have the consistency they should have, but I think that's because I didn't let the butter get to room temperature. I know it's a rule...but I was impatient. I rarely make homemade cookies, because I have no self-control and devour them. Breakfast cookies! Snack cookies! Cookies for dinner. Peeerfect. I used Valentine's m&m's not because I was in the V-Day spirit...it's all CVS had:); however, they do look rather festive, don't they?
